Norway’s official submission for the “Best International Feature Film” category at the 97th Academy Awards in 2025
Chronology
Armand, a 6-year-old boy, is accused of crossing boundaries against his best friend in elementary school.
A famous single mother is called into school by an incompetent teacher and administrative duo to discuss an incident involving her son and his friend
I understand why it won the Camera d’Or at Cannes 2024, but for the love of my life I couldn’t follow the film past the halfway point.
It’s a great premise and Armand had my attention, thanks in part to the fabulous opening shot and overall camerawork up to that point
But then it veers into autoerotic territory and I still have no idea what the director intended, with a jumble of impromptu dance sequences and an actor laughing for 3 minutes straight.

That’s where it all started and from then on the whole thing became frustrating because there was no recovery.
